The Gadsden State Cardinal Foundation invites you to take part in the Swoop Sprint 5K race as we "Sprint for Scholarships"! The Swoop Sprint is a 5K run that will take place on Saturday, March 3, 2018, at Gadsden State Community College, located at 101 Wallace Drive, Gadsden, Alabama, at 9AM.
Let's Talk Serious; who we are and the purpose of this event: The Cardinal Foundation exists to support the mission of Gadsden State Community College and provide opportunities for students. To reduce the cost of education, we want to partner with YOU to work towards providing more scholarship opportunities for students who wish to attend one of our six (6) Gadsden State Community Colleges in Alabama! The Gadsden State Cardinal Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization who awards scholarships every year, to incoming freshman and continuing students, and we would like to be able to increase the number of scholarships given. Now That We Have Your Attention, Here's What You Need To Know ------
THE 5K COURSE: Course map coming soon; this is a road course. There will be volunteers and officials throughout the course helping with directions, and the course will be clearly marked. The start/finish line will be at Beck Field House.
PRE RACE REGISTRATION: Registration is now open at https://runsignup.com/Race/AL/Gadsden/SwoopSprint5KforScholarships! Register today for $18; included is your electronic chipped timing bib, official race T-shirt, goody bag, pre-race snacks and finish line foods...and fun...and music...and more.
RACE DAY REGISTRATION: Race day registration will be available from 7:30AM-8AM at Beck Field House; look for the ACADEMY SPORTS + OUTDOOR tent (cash only and correct change, please). Remember: T-shirt and goody bag are NOT included with race day registration, so register online today! Race starts at 9AM - SHARP!
T-SHIRT DEADLINE: You must register by 12PM on February 23rd, 2018 in ordered to be guaranteed a race T-shirt, and you know you want a T-shirt!
PRE-RACE PACKET PICK UP: Packet Pick-Up will be at ACADEMY SPORTS + OUTDOOR, GADSDEN on Friday, March 2nd, 5PM to 7PM; this is the day before the race. There, you'll receive your race bib, tee-shirt (if you made the T-shirt deadline), and goody bag. Race day packet pick up is available on race day, at 7:30AM-8AM; Race starts at 9AM - SHARP!
RACE CATEGORIES/AWARDS: Trophies will be awarded to the overall top 3 male and female 5K finishers. Metals will be awarded to the top 3 male and female finishers in each age group (14&U, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70&U) – you must be present to receive your medal as we will not be able to mail them to you. The awards ceremony will begin immediately following the end of the race and as the results are in.
TIMING: Timing will be real time, digital, with instant results at the finish line. Your timing chip will be in your bib – so please wear your bib on your outermost clothing on the front and center of your shirt or shorts. This is your primary timing device – no bib, no time! All results will be posted on www.racekrewe.com by RaceKrewe and on the Swoop Sprint 5K event page on Facebook.
WATER STATIONS: The Swoop Crew will be manning water stations and trash cans along the course
MEDICAL: Qualified First Responders will be recognizable on premises, as well as qualified staff with 2-way radios
RESTROOMS: Restroom are located at Beck Field House; additional unisex port-a-johns will be located along the event area
RACE DAY PARKING: The Swoop Crew and officials will direct race day parking on the campus
