Annual “Light It Up Blue Columbus 5K and Family Friendly Walk”
Light It Up Blue Columbus 5K Run and Fun Walk is a Tri-City collaboration between the Autism Hope Center and the Autism Society of Alabama. It will take place on Saturday, April 8th, 2017 from 8:30 A.M-1 P.M, in Downtown Columbus, Georgia. This community event includes a 5K Run and a family friendly walk that supports Greater Chattahoochee Valley families affected by autism. Autism is only one of three health issues to be recognized with its own day by the United Nations. Thousands of iconic landmarks, communities, businesses, and homes across the globe unite by shining bright blue lights in honor of the millions of individuals and families around the world affected by autism. World Autism Awareness Day is a day of raising awareness and a day of promoting acceptance and education of the disorder. This event benefits both the Autism Hope Center and the Autism Society of Alabama; all proceeds will stay here in the Greater Chattahoochee Valley, to provide year-round support for the more than 2,000 individuals that are affected by autism. According to the CDC, 1 in 68 children are on the autism spectrum. Therefore, the need for services and support has never been greater.
Walk Registration includes a t-shirt. 5K Race registration included a tri-blend fit shirt, race-time, and scoring services using bib TAB chip timing with disposable chip on the bib number.
