Race number 4 of The 2017-2018 XTERRA Parks of Alabama Trail Run Series presented by Black Squirrel Events will be held December 2nd, 2017 at the beautiful Desoto State Park.
Course Description: Distance Options 15K or 8K on the trails at Desoto State Park. Awesome venue continuing in the rustic tradition of the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), mountainous Desoto State Park is nestled atop beautiful Lookout Mountain in scenic Northeast Alabama and accented by many rushing waterfalls and fragrant wildflowers that will simply take your breath away. Developed in the late 1930s, the hard-working and dedicated men of the CCC made many natural enhancements to the park that have withstood the test of time and will last for future generations. Come commune with Mother Nature as DeSoto State Park offers a family-friendly atmosphere that holds wonders for people of all ages!. Single and double track trails that offer a challenging course to both novice and experienced trail runners. A course that opens enough for a large volume of entrants, without bottlenecks on the single track portions. Lots of elevation changes without being overly technical. A course that traverses exciting and diverse terrain. This venue has plenty of parking for all participants and a great place for spectators to relax, view the race, and take in the scenery.
Awards: Medals and prizes will be awarded to our overall top 3 Male and Female finishers for each race along with top Male and Female Masters 40-49 and Grand Masters 50 +. We will also be handing out medals to our top 3 Male and Female finishers in each age group (14&U, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70&U)
Chip Timing: Disposable RFID chip timing from ChronoTrack by Race Krewe.
Packet pickup: Will be held at Academy Sports and Outdoors 601 George Wallace Dr Gadsden, AL 35903 Friday December 1 from 5:30pm to 7:00pm. And also the morning of the race starting at 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. Race starts at 8:00 a.m.. The race will be held rain or shine.
Entry Fees: Includes soft cotton race t-shirt – subject to availability for race day registrations. Chance to win a Special Edition XTERRA Alabama Rtic 20 Cooler on Race Day and at the Series Finale at Cheaha State Park. Preregistration 15K Trail Run $35 / Race Day Registration $40.
